Summer holiday in Oberbozen on the Ritten

Does the tractor seat stick to your rump,
July is sunny and hot.

In summer, people become dreamers. They say: the world is twice as beautiful then! Really? Everywhere? A summer holiday in Oberbozen on the Ritten is an unforgettable experience! On the Ritten in summer there is hiking, horseback riding, swimming in the lake, mountain climbing, llama trekking, cycling, Nordic walking , fishing, stopping off at farmer's inns, tasting the young wine in September. Picking wild strawberries with family and loved ones, exploring the culture of the southernmost offshoot of the language, and joking and laughing with Tyrolean unique individuals. That is the flair of South Tyrol. All this happens under the sun of South Tyrol, which shines from the sky on 8 out of 10 days in summer, with temperatures averaging 26 degrees Celsius.

The Ritten: HIKING, HIKING, HIKING ... from one sight to another

Hiking

Hotel Post–Victoria is a member of the Rittner Hikers’ hosts  (“Rittner Wanderwirte”)and therefore a hiking hotel in the middle of one of the most important hiking areas of South Tyrol. Our range of services is extensive and goes from the fitting food for the hiker, to consultation, hire of equipment and a shuttle service. As you perhaps already know, the Rittner highland plateau is one of the most beautiful and diverse hiking areas in the whole Alpine area. Whether it’s just a simple walk over the extensive promenades, or an extended forest and meadow hike, or right up to a 10-hour mountain expedition, Ritten can offer you almost everything. All glacier walkers and rock climbers have to accept a car journey of 1 or more hours. The Rittner hiking trails are well signposted and cover 710km of paths, of which more than half are marked.

Nordic Walking

In order to receive international recognition, we have decided to take our training with the ANWA (Austrian Nordic Walking Association). Therefore, we are also part of the INWA (International Nordic Walking Association). This organisation was started in 2001 in Finland and has since developed 18 branches worldwide.
We have been training Nordic Walking Basic instructors, who are also recognised by the INWA, since the beginning of February 2005.
Our trainer Mag. Franz Ganser (Managing Director of Nordic Sports) was happy to train our Nordic Walking Basic instructors here in Ritten.
More information about training for Nordic Walking can be found here: www.nordicsports.at

Bike & tours

Over 35 routes lead directly from our hotel, from easy to challenging, downhill to family excursions – excellent conditions and a fabulous panorama from March til November!
For example:

Oberbozen – Lobishof

One of our best tips for a fun, moderate bike ride is the tour from Oberbozen (starting at the hotel) to Lobishof and then over the ford to Ronacher. From Oberinn the route continues moderately over dreamy meadows right up to Rosswagen at a lofty 1734m. These meadows which are still particularly untouched are in flower in the months of May and June. A fast downhill via the Forststrasse to Pemmern where you can refresh yourself in the Gasthof Zirm. A little way along a forest path to Tann and then along a mule track to Riggermoos. You’ll soon get back to the hotel along the path to Gstrahl and Kaserhof.

Distance: 22 km Altitude: 520 m Length: 4-5 ½ hours. Difficulty: medium

Horse riding

The name Ritten comes from the German ‘Reiten’ for riding. Where once Kaisers crossed the Alps to the pope, today you can enjoy riding in the unspoilt natural landscape of astounding beauty. Many of our stables offer riding lessons for children as well as advanced classes for experienced riders. As well as the stables there is also horse-boarding. For more information ask Herr Mayr at reception; we look forward to hearing from you.
